Executive General Manager - Strategic Projects

Kate Mahony joined the Sydney Swans as Executive General Manager – AFLW Football in December 2021, the first in a series of key appointments made in preparation for the club’s inaugural AFLW season. 

Mahony brings extensive experience as a leader in high performance sport at national and international level having held numerous leadership roles. A qualified sports scientist and sports physiotherapist, Mahony joined the Swans from the NSW Institute of Sport where she was Head of Performance Health. 

Mahony’s experience in women’s sport includes previous roles as Sports Science and Medicine Lead for the Australian women’s cricket team and Sports Physiotherapist and Tournament Lead for the Australian Open and Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). In 2019 Mahony was awarded a Churchill Fellowship and travelled extensively investigating best practice sports science and sports medicine of the female athlete. In 2021 Mahony was part of the Australian Olympic Heathcare Team at the Tokyo Olympics. 

Mahony also works with the QBE Sydney Swans boys and girls Academy to oversee high performance projects and build high performance capabilities.
